Miami's Wynwood District, Art Miami - Miami Events
The Wynwood Art District is neighborhood in Miami, Florida situated north of Downtown Miami. At the moment, there are 70 fashionable galleries in Wynwood, including Gallery Bertin Toublanc and Rubell Family Collection (RFC). All the galleries are around shops and clothing wholesalers with concrete fronts freshly painted in purples, pinks and charcoals giving to the area a bohemian feeling. Besides, Miami nightlife is very active in Wynwood. For instance, Circa 28 Miami night club is a ideal location to party with an unconventional style and young artists sat dreamily under bookshelves.
Additionally, Wynwood is known cause its large Puerto Rican population. Puerto Rican owned restaurants, shops, markets and other businesses align the streets of Wynwood. Nowadays, Wynwood is undergoing a beautification and many luxury Miami condo buildings are being built there.
Wynwood Miami is currently emerging as an important venue for art related Miami events, as Art Miami has just found a new home. Art Miami is a popular event in Miami that takes place every year in December. Art Miami will be running from December 3 -7, 2008. In its 19th edition, Art Miami will be serving as a platform for modern and contemporary art, and its main location will be, of course, Miami’s Wynwood Art District. This 2008 Miami Event will unveil 110 international galleries, with a cross-section of contemporary work, modern masters, photography, including new discoveries in contemporary Chinese art, a refined presentation of modern and contemporary Latin American work, and prime examples of today’s most important contemporary photography. Art Miami is a spectacular 100.000 square foot fair put together at NW 2nd Avenue between 22nd and 23rd streets. All major galleries around will be part of this event in Miami, too.
